Volunteers got the red carpet, celebrity treatment at a movie night for National Volunteers Week.

For National Volunteers Week, the Kyabram Development Committee, with support from the Campaspe Shire Council, hosted a Volunteers Appreciation Movie Night.

On Wednesday, May 21, over 35 volunteers from different volunteer-based community groups packed the Kyabram Plaza Theatre for a free showing of The Penguin Lessons.

Alma Limbrick said the night was important to shine a light on those individuals who don’t get as much recognition for the work they do.

“Many of those who joined us on the night wear several hats, volunteering across a range of groups. Without them, many of our vital services, events and committees simply wouldn’t function,” she said.

With a drink and snack available on entry, volunteers were treated to a night out, embodying National Volunteer Week’s theme of ‘connecting communities’.

Organisers hope this celebration becomes a regular tradition in Kyabram — a small way to say a big thank-you.

The committee would like to thank everyone who attended, along with sponsor Campaspe Shire and the host for the evening, Kyabram Plaza Theatre.
