Bupa Aged Care Echuca marked Aged Care Employee Day on Wednesday, August 7, acknowledging the hard work of its staff with an afternoon tea and celebration.
Staff members Sally Henderson, Denise Chiswell and Dianne Holland received recognition for their contributions to the facility with special awards for going above and beyond.
Some staff members also received tenure awards, including Kathleen Pellegrino for 10 years, Jill Dunn for nine years, Debra Thorpe, Charito Datiles and Heidi Wallis for eight years, and Amanda Edwards and Robert Wright for six years of service.
Federal Member for Nicholls Sam Birrell was in attendance to acknowledge aged care employees, as well as the residents’ contributions during their working lives.
“The first thing I would like to say is that the Goulburn (and) Murray Valleys ... is one of the most beautiful societies and communities,” he said.
“The reason for that is because of you.
“The society that you’ve created in your careers and over your lives with community involvement and the work you’ve done, we’ve set up an amazing place in an amazing country.
“Generations ahead have so much to thank your generation for, for what you’ve done for this country, so thank you so much.”
Mr Birrell extended thanks to the staff at Bupa, recognising their hard work and care. He also presented staff members with their awards on behalf of the Federal Parliament.
“I want to thank all of the staff who work here and provide such generous and warm care,” he said.
“I know the staff, from the times I’ve visited go above and beyond, because their hearts are full of love and care for you.
“They want to make sure that everyone here is cared for.”
Residents John Price and Meg Lawless delivered speeches to the staff, expressing their gratitude for the work done at the facility each day.
“All of the staff members of Bupa Aged Care, they soon learn your name and greet you with a smile at every chance,” Mr Price said.
“I love these people, they warm my heart.”
