Supporting mental health in rural communities

Warren Davies, known as The Unbreakable Farmer, lost his Tongala farm to an overwhelming drought - and as a result - his identity.

Farmers and their families are invited to come together for a special Farmers Night Out at the Moyhu Hotel on Thursday, September 18 from 5.30pm.

The free community event includes dinner and a presentation by Warren Davies – The Unbreakable Farmer, who will share his story of resilience and the importance of mental wellbeing in farming communities.

Hosted by the Rural City of Wangaratta and the Wangaratta Livestock Exchange, the evening is an opportunity to take a break from the farm, enjoy a meal, and connect with others who understand the unique challenges of rural life.

“Farming life is rewarding, but it can also be isolating,” Rural City of Wangaratta Deputy Mayor Harvey Benton said.

“This night is about coming together, having a laugh, and spending time with mates and neighbours.”

The event comes at a time when many in our rural communities are feeling the ongoing impacts of drought.

Prolonged dry conditions have placed additional pressure on farmers, affecting not only their livelihoods but also their mental health.
