It was a family affair at St Joseph’s Primary School, Rochester on Friday, July 25 for their grandparents’ day.
Staff and students welcomed grandparents and other family members to a liturgy, morning tea and classroom tours.
Special guests travelled from as far as Melbourne to drop in and enjoy games and craft activities together.
Students took the opportunity to reflect on memories they have shared with their grandparents, and what they love most about them.
“I spend time with them and do a lot of stuff with them,” Year 4 student Alex Robertson said.
“I help them... lift heavy stuff.”
Year 6 student Darcie Acocks’ favourite part about visiting her grandmother is enjoying her signature dish.
“Coming over to her house, and she does a snack platter,” she said.
“We’ve had them since we were so small.
“There’s apples, biccies, cheese.”
For Year 4 student Ella Mundie, her grandmothers’ baking is special to her.
“Cooking biscuits and cupcakes,” she said.
“One time with Nanna we went to (mini) golf.”
Ella’s nanna, Kim Mundie, also took a moment to share what she loves about her granddaughter.
“I said her smile and grandma (Alexis Ward) said her cuddles,” she said.
“She’s very good to us.”
