It’s that time of year again when the hustle and bustle of the festive season is upon us.

For some people, it’s a time of year that can be magical; however, for others, it can be a harsh reminder of increased living costs and the sad reality that getting through the season and purchasing gifts for loved ones will bring much unwanted stress.

Many local families are doing it tough this year. With that in mind, the Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project is asking for your help with its annual Christmas Appeal.

Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project executive officer Amy Robinson said the appeal was a lovely way to help people in need and would directly support local families.

“Our core mission is to help young people and families in our region, and this time of year can be exceptionally hard for some families,” Ms Robinson said.

“Every generous donation, large or small, will go directly into helping support local families, covering essentials like food and everyday necessities over the holiday period. It can also help bring joy to the season by providing Christmas presents for those who need it most.”

The Family Haven in Mooroopna is also spreading cheer this season as it prepares to kick off its free Christmas photos next week.

Family Haven co-ordinator Courtney Wilson said both projects spread cheer and made a difference.

“The families are really grateful for the community support, and the Christmas photos are a great way to allow people to have a photo with Santa at no charge,” Ms Wilson said.

“We acknowledge all the goodwill across the community and the many organisations contributing this time of year.”
