Sparks but no fire

Deniliquin’s Fire + Rescue NSW brigade was called to a south Deniliquin home early Sunday morning amidst fears of an air conditioner fire.

Deputy Captain Les Booth said the occupants noticed sparks coming from a split-system, and called 000 about 12.12am.

When firefighters arrived at the Junction St home, there was no actual fire.

They isolated the power to the air conditioner and used thermal imaging cameras to ensure there was no threat of a blaze.

The occupants were instructed to have an electrician come look at the system before it could be used again.
