South explores the magic of reading

Fictional and non-fictional characters jumped off the page and into the Deniliquin South School playground on Friday for Book Week.

The fun day started with a parade, with family and friends staying on after school drop off to witness the celebrations.

Principal Liz Dudley led the proceedings, dressed as a well-versed Ms Valerie Frizzle from the Magic School Bus book series.

Book Week awards in the form of books were awarded in each stage - Early-Stage One, Stage One, Stage Two and Stage Three - for their efforts throughout the week.

Then, the parade began in earnest, led by the school’s youngest students.

Each year level took their turns parading, circled by their fellow students who cheered and sought hi-fives.

Before the special assembly concluded, the school joined for a ‘bus song’ led by Ms Frizzle, the ever-popular Let It Go from the movie Frozen.
