Season update targets grain and mixed farms

Grain growers and mixed farmers are invited to a season update in Corowa.

Season updates for farmers will be the topic of conversation at an event in Corowa next week.

The Riverine Plains In Season Update is a farmer-led, farmer-focused event, specifically designed to meet the needs of grain and mixed farm enterprises in the region.

The day aims to unpack current issues and opportunities in the lead up to harvest.

The Corowa Distilling Co will host the event on Wednesday, August 6.

Speakers and topics will be:

  • Riverine Plains’ Kate Coffey: Season discussion, a snapshot of the season to date and differences across the catchment for both cropping and mixed farm enterprises.
  • Sustainable Grain Australia chair Rosemary Richards: International Sustainability and Carbon Certification rules and what needs to be done to pass the audit.
  • Grassroots Agronomy agronomist Greg Condon: What are the alternative options for effective weed control and agronomy solutions for managing weed seedbanks with changes to paraquat registration.
  • Market Check senior commodity advisor Lachlan Condon: Market outlook for the different commodities coupled with strategy guidance leading into the spring window.
  • Riverine Plains’ Jane McInnes: Panel discussion comprising of all speakers with an additional agronomist.
