Scholarship for young farmers

Applications have opened for the 2026 Young Farmers Upskill and Invest Scholarship, giving young farmers and farm workers up to $10,000 to build skills and invest in their businesses.

Successful applicants can access up to $5000 for study or training, and a further $5000 to put those skills into practice through professional development, business planning or on-farm improvements.

To be eligible, applicants must be aged 18 to 45, working at least three days a week on a Victorian food and fibre farm business, and have a minimum of two years' on-farm experience.

Since launching in 2015, the Agriculture Victoria program has supported 146 young farmers across the state, with 12 to 14 scholarships awarded each year.

Agriculture Victoria chief executive Beth Jones said the scholarships were a key investment in the sector's future.

“These scholarships are about empowering the next generation of farmers with the skills, confidence and tools they need to innovate, adapt and lead in a changing industry,” Ms Jones said.

Applications close 5pm, August 14, 2026, with shortlisted candidates interviewed in late August. Details at agriculture.vic.gov.au
