Road upgrade raises parking concerns

Letter to the Editor Photo by Megan Fisher

Dear Editor,

I have recently studied the plans for the Hardinge St upgrade, and was fortunate to receive a visit from a company associate with the design.

I must congratulate Edward River on the project, which will certainly be an asset to the town.

I have a major concern that there is basically no parking for vehicles on the Coles side of Hardinge St, from Harfleur St to the Purtill’s diner site.

I also understand there will be a reduction in parking on the BP side through to the Barham Rd roundabout.

This basically means that any one with a motor home, boat trailer, caravan or a heavy vehicle will have quite a long walk to the supermarket.

We should be welcoming and encouraging people to stop and spend in our town, not putting up barriers to have them keep driving through.

I encourage the community of Deniliquin to participate in the review of the plan next Wednesday at the library between 4pm and 6pm and voice your opinions.

Yours etc.
