Pony club trials return to Finley

Finley pony club in action.

The Finley Pony Club are excited to be again hosting the Victorian Pony Club Horse Trials Championships.

It’s been 31 years since Finley Pony Club last hosted this event.

More than 150 riders, their support crews and officials are expected to spend May 11 and 12 in Finley, based at the showgrounds and sporting complex.

It will be a two day event comprising of dressage, show jumping and cross country riding disciplines.

Over the past four months the totally revamped cross country course has been under construction.

Accredited course builder Stuart Bellingham has been working hard alongside many volunteer members to bring the cross country course up to standard to meet current specifications for this prestigious event.

Finley Pony Club has given many local families a place to ride and learn about all aspects of horse husbandry for 60 years.

The Finley Pony Club holds a monthly rally on the second Sunday of the month and are now accepting adult riding members.

New members are always welcome.

For a sneak peak of the new cross country course, a horse trials clinic is being held at the Finley Pony Club grounds this Sunday with renowned instructors, in addition to a Pony Club Australia accredited gear check course.

Sponsorship packages for the horse trials championships are now available and trade sites are welcome.
