Organisations across Campaspe Shire are working together for Mental Health Month this October.
Campaspe Shire deputy mayor Jess Mitchell said the month was an opportunity for the community to focus on their mental health, a key priority for council.
“Council recognises that mental health is an issue that touches the lives of many individuals and families across Australia — including right here in our own community – so we’re encouraging community members to reach out and connect with the groups and the supports they need,” she said.
“Events like those being held in October for Mental Health Month are incredibly important in helping to create safe and welcoming spaces for open conversation, connection and access to resources.”
Mental health-focused events this month include:
- October 1: Free movie from noon to 3pm at Rushworth library by Campaspe Shire Council.
- October 6: Soaring drawing and laughter yoga from 10.30am to noon at Echuca library by Echuca Regional Health.
- October 7: SafeTALK suicide prevention training from 9.30am to 1.30pm at Mercure Port of Echuca by Loddon Mallee Public Health Unit.
- October 7: Beyond the Binary: Reimagining Gender from 4pm to 6pm at Greater Bendigo Loddon Campaspe Mental Health Local in Echuca.
- October 8: Free movie from noon to 3pm at Echuca library by Campaspe Shire Council.
- October 8: Self-care workshop from 10.30am to 11.30am at Rochester Community House by Anglicare Victoria.
- October 10: Roots of Resilience from 5.45pm at Moama Bowling Club by Echuca Neighbourhood House.
- October 15: Free movie from noon to 3pm at Echuca library by Campaspe Shire Council.
- October 22: Self-care workshop from 11am to noon at Anglicare Victoria Echuca.
- October 22: Free movie from noon to 3pm at Echuca library by Campaspe Shire Council.
