Yarck CFA says volunteering with the brigade is a great way to get involved in the community.

Yarck CFA seeks new volunteers

Yarck CFA has put the call out for new members.

“We’re keen to hear from anyone who is interested in serving their community and applying their skills and knowledge to CFA,” brigade captain Marty Shaw said.

“Whether you want to jump on the truck and fight fires or wish to join the brigade in a non-operational support role, we will find a role that suits you.”

Mr Shaw said joining the brigade was not only fantastic for skill development but was also a great venture for meeting new people.

“Many of our members have met some really close friends through the CFA,” he said.

“We regularly meet and train at the station, and welcome any new volunteers with open arms.”

Berrigan Shire Council has received funding for shared pathways in Barooga and Tocumwal.

Funding of $600,000 from the NSW Government’s Get NSW Active program will support construction of a shared path in Barooga on Golf Course Rd between Vermont St and Burkinshaw St, and on Jerilderie St between Kelly St and Cobram St in Tocumwal.

Council chief executive Karina Ewer welcomed the news and said the funding meant the paths could now be 2.5m wide concrete paths rather than crushed rock/dirt.

She said the detailed designs would be completed this year and the works would be finished by June 30 next year.

NSW upper house MP Wes Fang announced the funding on August 29 and said it would help community members enjoy their towns in a healthy, sustainable way.

Strathbogie Shire Council is seeking community input on three possible locations for an electric vehicle charging station along High St, Nagambie.

“As more and more people switch to electric vehicles, we know it is important for both residents and visitors to the area alike,” Strathbogie Shire Mayor Laura Binks said.

“Business operators are set to benefit from the new charging station as there will be more electrical vehicle commuters coming to the area.”

Cr Binks said the stations would be powered by 100 per cent renewable energy and would be able to service more than 90 per cent of the EV market with CCS2 and Chademo charging ports.
