Children get set for summer fun through the Get Active Kids program, which supports families with sports vouchers to help stay active and involved.

$50,000 for multicultural events

State Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh is encouraging local organisations to apply for Multicultural Festivals and Events Grant Program funding.

Up to $50,000 is on offer for organisations to host cultural festivals and events, with applications for this round of funding closing on Thursday, October 23.

Vouchers for kids’ sport

The Victorian government is offering families $200 vouchers to help children get active and play the sports they love this summer.

The next round of Get Active Kids vouchers opened on Wednesday, October 15, with an extra $15 million allocated to the program in the 2025-26 state budget.

More than 70 sports and over 2300 activity providers are included in the program across the state.

Nominations for Gannawarra Shire Council’s annual Citizen and Young Person of the Year awards are now open.

The awards recognise residents of all ages who help to make the area a great place to live and display community spirit.

Nominations for Murray River Australia Day Awards still open

There’s only two weeks left for residents to nominate in Murray River Council’s 2026 Australia day Awards.

Residents and community members are encouraged to nominate individuals or groups who have made an outstanding contribution to the local community.

Nominations close October 31.
