The Foundry Arts Space Echuca will open its new exhibition, Don’t Fence Me In, on Friday, May 17.
The exhibition by the Australian Plein Air Artist Group will feature works from Cheryl Mahon, Graeme Martin, Cheryl Wallace, Richard Speedy, Raymond Hill and John Lewis.
The group describes plein air painting as being able to connect with nature and capture it as it is.
According to group members, plein air painting is capturing the essence of nature in its purest form, when the artist steps outside with their easel and paints, they immerse themselves in the vibrant colours, the ever-changing light, and the subtle nuances of the landscape.
‘’Through plein air painting, the artist seeks to not only depict what they see but also to convey the emotions and sensations evoked by the scene.
“With each painting, the artist hopes to share a piece of that tranquillity and wonder with others, inviting them to pause, to breathe, and to find beauty in the simple act of being present in nature.’’
People are invited to share wine and cheese with the artists at 6pm on Friday in The Foundry Arts Space, 13-17 Murray Esplanade, Echuca. The exhibition runs until Sunday, June 2.
