Local residents will have better access to community services with the opening of a new Benalla Community Services Hub.

The new hub at 52 Carrier St will service Benalla and Mansfield districts.

It will accommodate several community services, including those supporting youth and families, health, housing and wellbeing.

The hub will be operated by North East Support and Action for Youth (NESAY), a local youth and family community agency.

The charity's chief officer, Leah Waring, said it was designed to provide residents with increased access to community services.

“NESAY already has a strong presence in Benalla, and our core welfare programs don't operate in isolation,” Ms Waring said.

“So when it came time to expand our office space it made sense to bring organisations that complement our services along with us. The hub is a win-win all round.

“A whole raft of community services can now operate from Benalla.

“By coming together under one roof we're able to improve collaboration and the coordination of services, and reduce building lease costs.”

The new hub aims to make it easier for community service agencies to set up in Benalla.

Some services will meet with people at the hub and other organisations will use it as a base to go out into the community more efficiently to provide valued services.

Ms Waring said the opening of the hub was a significant milestone for NESAY and its efforts to achieve better outcomes for young people and their families.

"The people we work with have lots going on in their lives without needing to travel to centres like Wangaratta to navigate multiple services,“ she said.

“This new hub is fantastic. Not only will we have a greater local presence, but other community service organisations will too."

The Benalla Community Services Hub has brought together services from Albury Wodonga Aboriginal Health Service, Beyond Housing, Centre Against Violence, Gateway Health, Headspace, The Orange Door, Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency, Wellways and Women's Health Goulburn North East.
