Laid-back luck leads to tipping victory

After the past two years of chasing the flag, Ozwide Joinery co-owner Ian Simpson has been crowned this year’s Free Press footy tipping champion.

Mr Simpson was a runner-up in the competition the past two years, but his laid-back approach to tipping helped to secure first place this time around.

“It was only pot luck, really, that I started off on the front foot, and I didn’t expect it to keep going,” he said.

“I don’t think I’ve got a secret to it. I don’t study it too hard, just do my tips and look at who’s favourite.”

Being a Brisbane Lions supporter was a boon for Mr Simpson, as he decided to never tip against his team.
