Day two of the Cream of the Crop conference 2025 saw dairy farmers and industry representatives out in the field, visiting Ellinbank SmartFarm, at Ellinbank, and Gippsland Jersey’s fromagerie factory and retail store at Pakenham.
At the Ellinbank SmartFarm, conference attendees heard about research into farming to reduce methane emissions, the carbon footprint of industry, using renewable energy, and improving pastures.
They also toured the dairy and paddocks to see and hear about some of the trials in action at Ellinbank.
At Gippsland Jersey, attendees toured the factory, which has been in operation for less than 12 months for the company, which is expanding its cheese production.
