Fun Reconciliation Week lessons in schools

Last week was reconciliation week, during which various schools in the district put on activities for their students.

At St Michael’s Parish School in Deniliquin, students were instructed on creating nature art, colouring and cooking Johnny cakes.

Mathoura Public School had a visit from the Wyniss Group about traditional Torres Strait Islander life and music.

The whole school also took part in a spinning top competition, a toy created originally by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
