A false alarm has highlighted the importance of maintaining smoke alarms regularly.
Deniliquin Fire + Rescue (FRNSW) responded to a smoke alarm call out at 8am on Saturday.
It was the result of a malfunctioning smoke alarm, however Captain Martin Smith said this was a timely reminder to make sure smoke alarms are in working order.
“Only a working smoke alarm saves lives,” he said.
That means ensuring the smoke alarm is clean, changing batteries regularly and having your alarm tested.
