Experience maximises breeding results

Madeline Batsiokis has joined the Trans Ova team.

Madeline Batsiokis vast experience in the IVF industry has shown her the importance of planning when it comes to achieving maximum results.

And that’s what she’s all about in her new role with Trans Ova Genetics – getting results.

Madeline has joined the Trans Ova Australia team as a client services representative, a professional role that involves communicating between clients and the lab to make sure customers get the best outcomes.

“Part of my responsibilities is client success and using my experience to help maximise results for customers,” she said.

According to Madeline, getting the best results requires planning. “That’s what it comes down to - planning and discussions around nutrition, timings of vaccinations and parasiticides, mineral supplements, generally backgrounding the cattle to make sure we get the best quality eggs out of the cows.

“Sperm plays a role too, but the eggs play a very important part in getting good quality embryos.”

Madeline brings to the Australian team a strong educational background and extensive experience in IVF technology, having worked across multiple facets of the industry both internationally and in Australia.

Madeline has a strong educational background and extensive experience in IVF technology.

Her expertise extends from specialised laboratory procedures through to working directly with farmers and livestock operations in the IVF field.

After more than a decade working in northern Australia, Madeline jumped at the opportunity to join Trans Ova’s expanding team. “Trans Ova is a powerhouse in the global cattle IVF industry so it’s exciting to be part of it,” she said.

“IVF has been around for a while but we’re still in an IVF boom in Australia so it’s an exciting time to be involved and being part of a team that is achieving great things in the industry globally.”

Madeline studied animal science at Adelaide University, finishing her honours in 2009 before moving to Rockhampton in Queensland in an embryologist role managing a cattle IVF laboratory for a Brazilian franchise.

She also had opportunities to work in Brazil, Spain, China and helped plan for a lab in Kenya.

Madeline later completed her Masters by remote research into maximising results from cattle embryo technologies, including projects focussing on the roles of both eggs and sperm.

After her Masters, Madeline worked as a livestock products sales representative for a pharmaceutical company and later provided technical and sales support for a company that produces IVF media, along with other freelance work.

Although she initially trained in sheep IVF, Madeline has mostly worked with beef and dairy cattle, mainly with tropical beef breeds in northern Queensland and with dairy cattle overseas.

Her interest in the field came about by accident.

Madeline grew up in Adelaide and was initially interested in working with wildlife.

“I was exposed to agriculture while I was doing the animal science degree and it really interested me,” she said.

“There have been a lot of opportunities that I’ve taken as they became available and it’s just grown from there.”

Madeline will be based in Geelong for her new role.

“I have a range of experiences, from research, commercial, sales and tech support and hopefully they will all be of benefit ,” she said.

Trans Ova Genetics commercial operations manager Helen Thoday said Madeline would work alongside a growing partner network while also supporting clients directly.

“As we continue expanding our team to support what’s possible for Australian producers, Madeline stood out as she brings proven reproductive expertise and hands-on client support experience,” she said.

“This dedicated role helps make in vitro fertilisation more accessible, with a clear focus on supporting producers achieve consistent results that deliver the benefits of this advanced reproductive performance”
