Echuca’s newest car dealership, MG, has officially opened its doors on Northern Hwy, with dealer principal Garet Stobaus announcing the business began operations in mid-September.
The dealership operates from two locations: sales at 114 Northern Hwy and service at 141 Northern Hwy, sharing facilities with the existing Echuca Mazda and Mitsubishi Workshop.
The dealership will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, November 8.
The grand opening will include entertainment and refreshments for visitors.
“We will have a sausage sizzle and barbecue,” Garet said.
“The grand opening of Echuca MG will be live broadcast by Edge FM, where we will be talking about the brand, all of the MG vehicles and what we offer through the service department.”
Expansion plans are already under way, with construction of a new facility planned for 2026.
“We will be turning the dirt on a new showroom within the next six months, with a car showroom, comfortable waiting lounge and full service centre,” Garet said.
“The new showroom will be state-of-the-art when it is completed.”
The dealership showcases MG’s comprehensive vehicle range, from compact cars to seven-seat SUVs.
“Hayden Eaton is the man running MG for us, having been with us for in excess of five years,” Garet said.
“We are already operating if anyone wants to come down, have a look around at the MGs or book a test drive.
“Our MG range is full of the absolute latest drive-assistance tech and with models covering traditional petrol, hybrid, plug-in hybrid or full battery electric, they have something to suit everyone.”
The range includes the MG3 compact car, medium SUVs like the ZS and HS models, the QS seven-seater, and electric options including the MG5 EV.
A highlight of the grand opening will be the launch of MG’s newest vehicle, the MGU9 ute.
“As of just last week, we have launched the all new MGU9 ute with 3.5-tonne braked towing in an automatic transmission 2.5-litre turbo diesel 4x4 dual cab. It needs to be driven to be believed,” Garet said.
“It is a bigger ute than a lot of the competitors, which is the first thing you notice about it.
“I had a drive of the MGU9 last week at Sandown Racecourse and did some four-wheel driving.
“And it is a more than capable ute and as with everything MG, it is pretty well priced.
“I’d like to suggest that you book a test drive before the day, because there is only one demo in the showroom at this stage.
“While we are specifically targeting the launch of the MGU9 ute, we are more than happy if people want to come and test drive any of the other MGs, you are more than welcome.”
Garet encouraged locals interested in a new ute to take the MGU9 for a test drive on local terrain.
Echuca MG is part of Northvic Motors, which has operated in Echuca for 17 years, with Mazda and Mitsubishi franchises, and has supported many local sporting groups, schools and charity organisations in that time.
Employing 25 local people, the company offers full servicing of all the vehicles it sells, and if someone has an MG that’s a few years old, they would love to look after the car for them as well.
