Speed cushions will be installed on the approaches to the three pedestrian (zebra) crossings in Hogan St, Tatura, after concerns were raised by residents.

A Greater Shepparton City Council spokesperson said the cushions were designed to engage drivers to reduce speed near crossings, allowing vehicles time to stop if a pedestrian entered the crossing.

The proposed cushions were pre-fabricated from recycled rubber and could be installed on top of the existing road surface with accompanying warning signs.

Works start on August 15 and were expected to take two days to complete.

Some lane closures would be necessary during the works and traffic management would be in place to manage the flow of traffic and minimise the inconvenience.
