It was a great trip to the Sydney Royal for Emily Brown and Kit Davidson with Benleigh Collaps Sarajevo crowned Junior Champion Brown Swiss.
She went onto place fourth in the interbreed.
Emily, her partner Stephen Fisicaro, and Kit, bought the cow in partnership last year after the Benleigh sale in the Hunter Valley.
Kit has been looking after the cow at her farm in Finley and did all the preparation work.
“This cow family has such a special place in our hearts,” Emily said.
“It is 30 years since her ancestor, the great Kameruka Sarajevo 2 (owned by the Nova Partnership of Brown, Wake, Beck and Barlin) won three of her seven royal show championships in the one year, including her second at Sydney Royal.
“Her progeny has done very well over the years as well.”
Emily said it had been a long held dream to own a descendant of Kameruka.
“We were the losing bidder in the pick of the pair, and after the sale, we asked if he would sell her and here we are.”
Emily was also stoked with the opportunity to judge the youth challenge as well.
“It was a bit daunting to judge all three sections by myself, as there were 11 teams all up and over 100 young people competing.”
Emily said Sydney was challenging for the kids as they were only put into their teams the day before and had to work out how to work together to compete in all three different tasks.
“I had an absolute blast, and it’s always wonderful to see so many great and talented kids out there giving it their all, making friends and learning new things.”
