Local students pursuing tertiary studies have a chance to ease their financial load thanks to the Country Education Foundation (CEF) Edward River, which is set to open its annual grant applications on September 1.

Each year, the foundation provides vital support for local students, from helping cover course expenses and accommodation bonds to funding essential study tools.

The impact is life-changing, especially for those forced to leave home to chase their educational goals.

Past recipients include James Bould, a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) student, who credited CEF for covering a significant portion of his course expenses while studying away from home.

Similarly, Zoe Holloway, studying business in Melbourne, shared how the funding helped her secure on-campus accommodation without the stress of last-minute financial hurdles.

Bonnie Everett, currently studying nursing, said the grant provided "confidence and support" at a critical moment while moving into university life.

From hairdressing kits to public transport fees, every dollar has counted.

Benjamin Baker, a Bachelor of Medical Science student, noted the assistance with rent and study tech helped alleviate the week-to-week pressures of living independently.

And for Remy Cathcart, a combined Laws/Psychological Science student, the funding enabled smoother access to learning tools and eased financial stress amidst a competitive university landscape.

Applications for the next round of grants will be open from September 1 to October 30.
