Can do attitude helps Can Assist

Heather Petersen and Telysa Towler were on the tools serving sausages in bread on Friday.

The good old sausage in bread has helped raise almost $300 to support local cancer sufferers, and launched a new monthly fundraising initiative.

Sausages were sizzling on Friday at the entrance to Ritchies IGA Deniliquin in support of Deniliquin Can Assist.

The two hour initiative netted $289 to financially support local cancer patients and their families.

Buoyed by the success, Ritchies have made a commitment to run a sausage sizzle on the last Friday of each month - the same day as their market day.

Sausages in bread were the primary offering, with the option of onions or drinks available as well.

Ritchies employees Heather Petersen and Telysa Towler had help from Karen Martin to cook and serve the barbecue, and were kept quite busy.

It was also a sizzler of a day for Deniliquin’s Karen Jukes, who won the first of two 10kg block of Cadbury chocolate bar giveaways.

The second will be drawn this Friday.
