The Deniliquin Rovers Football & Netball Club’s annual Kev Bode Cup Sheep Races were held at Memorial Park on Saturday.
The action was followed by the 250 Club reverse draw in the evening.
More than 250 people attended the sheep races, enjoying the sunshine, food and the company - and the race day with a difference.
A total of 36 sheep were ‘sold’ to punters and were raced throughout the day, each eager to hoof it to victory.
Winners in the heats were as follows: Race 1 - Ewe Beauty; Race 2 - Hawk Tuah; Race 3 - Baaarry; Race 4 - Benny’s not coming home tonight Katie; Race 5 - Bondy 300.
All five were then lined up again for the Kev Bode Cup grand final.
Baaarry lead the charge, crossing the finish line by almost a full body to win big for his syndicate.
Natalie Sampson, Gabby Barlow, Gracie Willis, Jaidyn Druitt, Nathan Turbidge and David Woodcock pocketed $3000 prize.
The losers' grand final was a thrilling battle, with the “unluckiest” sheep finally catching a break and winning their money back.
Winners in the 250 Club reverse draw were Shayne Knuckey ($3000 cash), Riley Norris ($1500) and Jackson Muldoon-Leetham ($500).
