The Deniliquin Netball Association hosted the grand final of the Harvey Norman sponsored autumn competition on April 10.
It was an exhilarating display of skill and sportsmanship at the newly resurfaced courts.
The culmination of eight weeks of intense competition resulted in the grand finals for under-13s and under-15s being fiercely contested.
We were honoured to have a few of our life members in attendance to help with the formalities.
Barb Lyne and Christina Mildren watched on and then presented medals and awards, and Zena Wahanui umpired and assisted as she had done all season.
Committed to nurturing the sport at its foundation, the association serves as a vital platform for aspiring netball enthusiasts of all ages to start their netball journey through developing skills in the Net Set Go program for children aged 5-10.
This year, the program was coordinated by Sam O’Connor and her team, and the participants took part in skill-based activities that were appropriate for their age and ability.
The under-13s grand final was hotly contested by the DNA under-13 representative team and the Vixens.
With both teams showcasing exceptional skill and teamwork, they were able to exchange possessions and execute swift transitions between offence and defence.
However, in the end, the DNA under-13s rep team claimed the championship title 35-31.
Best on court in grand final was Rachel Taylor.
The third and fourth position battle saw Rams Blue victorious over Swifts, 13-3.
In the under-15s grand final, the DNA under-15s Representative Team played off against Boss Alpha.
Spectators were treated to a spectacle of fast-paced action punctuated by moments of brilliance and determination.
Ultimately, the rep team emerged triumphant, 34-24.
