Advice warning for bushfire north-west of Shepparton

Bushfire: There is a fire near Undera.

UPDATE, 3.35pm, Tuesday, February 20: Comment from CFA

A CFA spokesperson has elaborated on the situation near Undera.

“15 CFA units responded to bushes on fire on Echuca-Mooroopna Rd in St Germains, which started at around 1.04pm on February 20,” the spokesperson said.

“Units are from Mooroopna, Tongala, Shepparton, Tatura, Yambuna, Undera, Merrigum, Wyuna and Kyabram.

“Crews arrived to find approximately two hectares of farming waste on fire.

“An advice message was put out to the community.

“Victoria Police are there for traffic control. Ambulance Victoria are also on scene.”

UPDATE, 3.20pm, Tuesday, February 20: Downgraded

The advice warning issued for St Germains and surrounds earlier this afternoon has been downgraded.

The messaging from Vic Emergency is for the community to stay informed, with no immediate threat to the community and no action required.

Around 15 vehicles remain on scene, although the fire has now been deemed ‘under control’.

EARLIER, 2.15pm, Tuesday, February 20: Advice warning issued

There is currently a grassfire burning on the outskirts of Greater Shepparton, which is not yet under control.

An advice warning is in place for Lancaster, St Germains, Undera, Wyuna and Wyuna East.

“There is a grassfire at Echuca-Mooroopna Rd, St Germains, that is not yet under control,” the Vic Emergency message said.

“This grassfire is travelling in a westerly direction from Echuca Road.

“There is currently no threat to you, but you should stay informed and monitor conditions.”

As of 2.11pm on Tuesday, February 20, 16 vehicles were attending the scene.

Smoke may be visible from nearby communities and roads.
