Preparations are in full swing for the upcoming Fodder Festival 2021 with booths booked, new machinery at the ready and registrations rolling in for the big day on Wednesday, March 17 at the Elmore Events Centre in northern Victoria.
Hosted by the Australian Fodder Industry Association and Elmore & District Machinery Field Days, the event will appeal to anyone whose business includes fodder, from growers and contractors to traders and end-users.
The theme of the day, ‘The Future of Big Square Baling’, will come to life with a morning of machinery demonstrations.
“With irrigation and 45 mm of recent summer rain, the crop is looking fantastic for the machinery demonstrations which are always popular,” AFIA chief executive officer Paula Fitzgerald said.
Dyna Dan sorghum has been planted and fertilised on the site, thanks to Nutrien Ag Solutions.
“Seven demonstrations will take place across 12 hectares showing off the latest machinery,” Ms Fitzgerald said.
“This will be accompanied by commentary and an interactive audience Q&A.
“The newest square baler models will be on display by Claas, Krone, Kuhn, Massey Ferguson, Staheli West and New Holland.
“Berrima Engineering will give their latest hay rake a run, and Vicchem will demonstrate their latest application technologies.”
The demonstration site has undergone soil testing by Precision Agriculture, which will report its findings on the day.
The event will also feature trade displays, product launches and presentations and a panel discussion.
“After the year that has been, we are really looking forward to a great day out in the paddock, catching up with our members and all those who contribute to the fodder industry,” Ms Fitzgerald said.
The 2021 Fodder Festival is presented by AFIA in partnership with the Elmore Field Days Committee.
It will start with breakfast at 7 am on Wednesday, March 17.
