A man has been charged with murder a week after the body of a self-employed father of two was found by his former partner in the Gold Coast hinterland.

Emergency services were called to Mount Tamborine after midday on June 29 and found a 37-year-old man with fatal injuries to his head and upper body.

Homicide detectives on Thursday charged a Paradise Point man, 36, with one count of murder.

The accused is expected to face the Southport Magistrates Court on Friday.
