Easter dispute allegedly ends with shots fired at house

A man allegedly fired a gun at his neighbour's house multiple times after an argument late on Easter Sunday.

Police were called to Albert Street in Wollongong, south of Sydney, at about 6:40pm following reports of a public place shooting.

Officers allegedly found a gun had been fired several times into a home following a dispute between two people.

Following inquiries, a 53-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Wollongong Police Station.

The man was charged with five offences, including shooting a firearm at a dwelling with disregard for safety.

He has also been charged with possessing a prohibited firearm, possessing an unregistered firearm, possessing ammunition without a licence, and aggravated break and enter while armed with a dangerous weapon.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

The man spent the night behind bars and will face a bail hearing on Monday morning.
