THE ECHUCA MOAMA UNITING CHURCH IS A PLACE OF WORSHIP AND HOSTS SEVERAL INTERESTING AND FUN ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR FOR VISITORS TO THE REGION AND THE COMMUNITY.
The winter Makers Market will be held on Saturday, June 8, including Devonshire teas by Loris and her team and a hot dog stall.
At the Makers Market, you will find a range of artisans selling lovely handmade wares, a cake stall and local produce.
The Echuca Moama Uniting Church has become nationally and internationally known as a venue for unique musical performances.
Broken Creek Band singer and fiddle player Erin Heycox is ‘really’ looking forward to collaborating with the church in June.
“We would rather make music in a beautiful space, like a hall or a church, because we play acoustic instruments, and these rooms were built to house music and are where the instruments shine,” Erin said.
“They are our favourite gigs because we love that the audience is sitting and listening, and we can talk and tell stories, laugh and create that experience.”
Broken Creek band hails from Picola, playing folk music inspired by the Australian landscape of the border towns, using banjo, guitar, and fiddle, offset by Erin’s lovely voice.
With 50 years of singing together, the Victoria Welsh Choir’s performance in July will be memorable.
Victoria Welsh Choir member Garry Salsbury is one of three local Echuca members, along with up to 35 other members from around the state, who will travel to Echuca for the performance.
“We travel to different venues and do many country performances,” Garry said.
“We look forward to performing in a church, as the Uniting Church has fantastic acoustics.
“Anne Peace has done a fantastic job organising our performance and the many other performances they have at the church.
“It will be a mixture, but part of our constitution, if you like, is the maintenance of Welsh music.”
Harmony of Harps Pete Gibson and friends will be a performance from members of Harper’s Bizarre, mostly on Para-Celtic harps.
“Harper’s Bizarre are a group of dedicated harpers focusing on central Victoria,” Pete said.
Pete is unsure of the musical pieces performed at the Uniting Church as Harper’s Bizarre holds its annual harp camp in July, where up to 50 harpers learn new material that will be performed in August.
The Echuca Moama Uniting Church is at the corner of Hare and Pakenham St, Echuca.
