ECHUCA MOAMA AND DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL SHOW SOCIETY PRESIDENT ALLEN MATHERS KNOWS THAT ONCE YOU ARE THROUGH THE GATES AT THIS YEAR’S ECHUCA MOAMA SHOW, “THERE IS LOTS TO SEE.”
“There will be horses both days, dairy cattle on Saturday, beef on Sunday, dairy goats, and we hope to have a sheep display as well,” Allen said.
“Parents should have a smile on their faces as children can visit the petting zoo, pony rides, hair braiding or face painting, free portraits and many exciting things to do for free.
“We hope to have many sideshows and show bags coming back again this year.
“On Saturday night, a massive fireworks display will be in the main arena.
“The ute competition is on again, with great prizes on Saturday and classic cars on Sunday.”
With its displays and competitions, the pavilion is a family favourite for all ages.
This year, the Echuca Moama Show is encouraging all schools, pre-schools and daycare providers to participate by creating a display of their work in the pavilion.
“The children can enter the student creations section in the pavilion, where there are heaps of categories to be entered,” Allen said.
“There is a scarecrow competition and a Christmas tree competition this year.
“And I think they are pushing a massive chocolate cake competition.
“The ladies running the pavilion are doing an excellent job; they look after all the ages and everything.”
The Rural Ambassador Award encourages young community leaders to participate in their local show society.
“The Rural Ambassador Awards will be judged before the show, so the entrants can walk around with their ribbons and help us a bit in certain sections,” Allen said.
“They can go on to bigger things like the finals in the Northern Districts shows and the VAS competition.”
On Sunday, showgirls and showboys will be on the lawn, along with a big pet parade.
In 2023, more than 300 doughnuts were eaten at the Saturday night doughnut-eating competition, with it returning in 2024.
“We would like to thank all our sponsors and all the people who advertise in our show schedule, which will be out before the end of August,” Allen said.
“They help us with the printing costs and everything else we do.
“We look forward to everyone’s participation and hope the 2024 Echuca Moama Agriculture Show will be a huge success.”
