21st Century dating not so bad

Dating is rough.

The days of love at first sight and chance encounters seem to be long gone.

Instead, we have an app for that.

Finding romance online can be tricky to navigate, but it’s not impossible.

Whether you’re looking for the love of your life, your future husband or wife, or maybe just to meet some new people and have a bit of fun, finding similar-minded people has never been easier.

Set your intentions

Before you start swiping, think about what exactly you’re looking for. Make your boundaries clear; if you’re looking for long-term commitment, keep that clear, and talk to people looking for the same thing.

Bios matter

As much as we don’t like to admit it, first impressions matter. People make snap judgements when looking at your profile, so this is your shot to make a good impression.

Your first photo should be just of you; save the photos with friends for later, and never include a photo with your ex (you’d think we wouldn’t need to say this, but you’d be surprised).

Your bio should include a little about yourself and what you’re looking for. Make it fun, or make it serious; it’s up to you; just don’t leave it blank.

Do I message first?

Congrats, you have a match! Now what?

Messaging first can be scary, but sometimes it’s just something you have to do. You could wind up waiting forever to talk to someone if you wait for them to message first. And people like it when you make the first move, so be bold.

First dates

When you find someone you like, and the conversation is good, it’s time to take that next step and meet face to face. It’s easily the scariest, most nerve-racking part of it all.

Don’t overthink things too much; have fun and meet new people. And if it doesn’t go as well as you’d like, there’s always another date with someone new on the horizon.

Have fun, be safe and enjoy meeting new people.
