Beloved TV show Wallace & Gromit is known for a few things.

Fun animation, the characters love for cheese and of course, the funky, brassy soundtrack.

The Darebin Brass City-Preston Band is bringing the magic of the show to the Mooroopna stage this week.

A selection of movie music will be performed in addition to the featured work Wallace & Gromit and the wrong trousers live with brass band, including music from the Incredibles, The Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, James Bond and more in the bands’ show Movie Favourites.

“It is the first of a series of five performances around the state,” the band’s musical director Andrew Snell said.

“This weekend’s performance will be Australian premiere of the Wallace & Gromit with live orchestra.”

The Melbourne based band will perform for the first half of the show before the Shepparton Brass and Wind Band takes the spotlight, performing a series of movie themes and soundtracks.

The show will finish with both bands on the WestSide Performing Arts Centre stage performing together.

“People have started to get used to the movie with an orchestra style and I think it’s a great opportunity to get young audiences to come along and see how the music is done,” Mr Snell said.

“It’s going to be a really exciting afternoon.”

Darebin City Brass is a community organisation who are committed to enriching the community through the pursuit of musical excellence.

They are Victoria’s current state champion band and have held the title for eight of the past nine years.

The band consists of 30 brass and percussion musicians who perform together throughout the state.

Shepparton Brass and Wind has up to 30 members aged from 10 to 70, and performs regularly in the community at a variety of festivals and events.

Movie Favourites will start at 2.30pm on Sunday, April 21 at Mooroopna’s WestSide on Echuca Rd, Mooroopna.
