Take off with Bendigo Flying Club

Logan who was flying alone before he had his driver’s licence.

If you’ve wanted to fly above the rest, literally, Bendigo Flying Club is offering a trial session over the field days.

Bendigo Flying Club’s Tim Pryse said the club was a flying school, rather than a charter operator, but they were excited to give budding pilots a taste of the sky.

“It’s a trial introductory flight for if you are keen to learn to fly,” Tim said.

“It’s in two-seater recreational aviation planes in Tecnam’s that are made in Italy.”

They will also have a static display as well as the one in the air.

The trial flights will last 30 minutes at $150 each, which is a special Elmore Field Days price.

“So be quick and don’t miss out,” Tim said.

“I think there’ll be quite a few farmers’ sons, and maybe even some farmers who want to learn to fly, so it would be a good opportunity to get out there.”

There will be a sign-up on the day. Tim said to head straight there if you’re interested, to save yourself the disappointment.

The club owns four two-seater planes and one four-seater plane, with two full-time instructors and five part-time.

Bendigo Flying Club was founded in 1965 and now has around 250 members.

The club owns two hangers and a fantastic, renovated clubroom complex with great views of the Bendigo Airport.

The club purchased its first aircraft in 1969 and has since purchased a training fleet of five Tecnams and a Piper Archer.

It has been involved in flying training since 2007 and many of its members are General Aviation and Recreational Aviation pilots.

A recent graduate included 17-year-old Logan, who had wanted his licence since he was 14, and ended up a pilot before a driver.
