Tottenham are set to break their record transfer fee for the second time in consecutive days after they reached an agreement to sign Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali.
Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi made Italy international Tonali a crucial summer target and despite interest in the 26-year-old from Manchester City and Arsenal, he has decided to work under his compatriot in north London.
It is reported that an initial fee of $178 million (£92.5million) plus a further $14.4 million (£7.5 million) in add-ons will secure the services of Tonali for Tottenham and complete their midfield revamp after they agreed to sign Mateus Fernandes for $164 million (£85 million) from West Ham on Tuesday.
Head coach Robert De Zerbi masterminded EPL safety for Spurs on the final day of the 2025-26 season and has since been heavily backed in the transfer window by majority owners the Lewis family.
With Martin Dubravka, Andrew Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke confirmed, and Fernandes expected to be announced imminently, negotiations between Tottenham and Newcastle have moved on swiftly.
Chelsea have completed the signing of Atalanta defender Marco Palestra on a seven-year deal.
The 21-year-old, who has two international caps for Italy, moves to the EPL club for a reported $90 million (£47 million), including add-ons.

Newly-promoted Hull City have confirmed the sale of Albanian midfielder Aidon Shehu to Panathinaikos for $4.8 million (£2.5 million) after after selling goalkeeper Ivor Pandur to Rangers for $11.5 million (£6 million).
The deals will help Hull avoid a breach of profit and sustainability rules and a possible points deduction.
