Britney Spears is said to be "healthy and happy" after leaving rehab.

The pop star checked into a clinic in early April five weeks after she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol (DUI) in Ventura, California, in early March.

Spears, 44, has now been charged with DUI and she will be arraigned on Monday at the Ventura County Superior Court.

Now she has been pictured out of rehab for the first time - with the singer being snapped in the passenger seat of a car in Calabasas, California - and she is said to be looking forward to the future.

A source told New York Post column Page Six: "(She is) doing really well ... She's healthy and happy and feeling very positive and excited to start afresh. Rehab was a great opportunity for her to ground herself.

"She's looking forward to a bright future."

The publication reports Spears left rehab on Wednesday night and a second source added the singer is "continuing counselling remotely".

It is not yet known whether the Toxic star is planning to appear at her arraignment hearing in person on Monday.

A spokesperson for Spears previously insisted the singer was keen to seek help and get her life back on track.

"This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable," they said in a statement.

"Spears is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in a long-overdue change that needs to occur in Spears' life.

"Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.

"Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue, needed plan to set her up for success for wellbeing."
