Kyabram remains in the top group of sides, despite suffering its first loss in the Campaspe Playing Area midweek pennant.
Ky welcomed Mathoura to Kyabram Bowling Club in round three on October 21, but the visitor came up with all the answers in a 14-71 to 2-55 result.
Joe Greco was able to earn points for the host side, his squad of Graeme King (lead), Graham King (second) and Jack Portia securing a solid 24-12 result in their rink.
However, Mathoura had the running of the other two rinks.
Troy Mansbridge’s quartet ran up a big score, 35-15, while Peter Holzer also secured a strong result, 24-16.
The result sees Kyabram fall to third, now trailing Mathoura by a point.
Moama tops the ladder as the only remaining undefeated side after beating Stanhope 14-63 to 2-59.
Peter Myers came away with a rink win for Stanhope, 24-20, but Moama’s Cameron Keenan (27-20) and Matt Robertson (16-15) secured the other two rinks and the overall points for the Steamers.
Stanhope is in sixth with a 1-2 record.
Lower divisions
In division two, Kyabram suffered a heavy defeat to Moama, 16-82 to 0-41.
Phillip Denham almost directed some of the points Kyabram’s way, but his squad went down 19-20 in the closest rink.
Ky also found the going tough against the Steamers in division three, losing 14-56 to 0-22.
Ky Valley View had a better morning, picking up the win 12-41 to 2-35 over Rochester, while Tongala also won well, 14-49 to 0-28 over Echuca.
Division four saw Tonny pick up a useful 14-59 to 0-28 win over Rich River, while Kyabram fell 14-49 to 0-28 against Lockington and Stanhope scored a 14-47 to 0-34 victory over Moama Black.
