Feedback needed on new rules for waste tyres

New regulation amendments which impact how farmers can store and use waste tyres in their silage systems are on the cusp of introduction.

The amendments would see farmers who use more than five cubic metres of waste tyres for silage production needing to get a new Environment Protection Authority registration.

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning described this as a “simple, online and free process” mandatory by July 1, 2023.

Public feedback is currently being sought on the Engage Victoria website before the amendments are put before Victorian Environment Minster Lily D’Ambrosio.
