Seymour, Nagambie and Avenel have raised a total of $43,826 for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Across the region, community groups collected for the record-breaking statewide total of $22,328,154. In data provided by the Good Friday Appeal, Avenel ($3448), Nagambie ($17,323) and Seymour ($23,055) residents have all contributed to the hospital’s largest annual fundraiser.

Funds from this year’s Good Friday Appeal will go towards research, state-of-the-art equipment and technology, education and family-centred care programs. Proceeds will go directly to the Children’s Cancer Centre and CARES (4 Kids) which provides Cancer Allied Health Resources, Education and Supportive Care programs.

The Children’s Cancer Centre sees about 1400 patients a year, including 300 newly-diagnosed patients.

Good Friday Appeal executive director Rebecca Cowan was grateful for the regional fundraising efforts.

“Year after year, regional Victoria continues to be one of the biggest supporters of the appeal. Without our regional communities, the appeal simply wouldn’t be what it is today,” she said.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone for their generous donations to this year’s Good Friday Appeal. The teamwork that binds all regional towns together is truly inspiring.”

In Seymour, CFA, SES, Rotary and Girl Guide volunteers were among the organisations collecting for the appeal.
