Milk production declines

The Northern Victorian region has continued a major slip in milk production, according to the latest Dairy Australia figures.

The March production figure was down by 27 per cent compared to the same time last year, and is part of a 17 per cent year-to-date slide.

Victoria’s production was down by 12.9 per cent for March and 8.2 per cent down for the year-to-date.

 National figures show a 10 per cent reduction for March. Every state has shown a reduction in March, with only SA reporting a slight increase for the year.

The national production in volume was up to 6800 million litres at the end of March.
