Company growing

A three-year $2million expansion investment by Tongala-based SLTEC Fertilizers is up and running, improving efficiency, capacity and underpinning the company’s growth in the production of fluid fertilisers.

Established in 2005 by managing director Jamie McMaster, SLTEC formulates fluid fertilisers for application across multiple farming and crop types.

The upgrades include three new mixing tanks, technical integration and automation systems, and updated agitation and mixing systems.

The improvements will deliver four times greater processing capacity, maintaining the strictest quality and accuracy parameters.

‘‘The upgrade program has been a significant investment and undertaking for us, and a big job for the team,’’ Mr McMaster said.

‘‘We are rapt to have the new machinery and equipment up and running.

‘‘It will ensure that we continue to expand our offering of off-the-shelf and tailored fertiliser solutions for Australian farmers and their agronomists.’’

The company employs 22 people, comprising engineers, scientists and best-in-field industry experts.

The team includes batching operators, agronomy and customer support services along with administration and logistics management personnel.

‘‘We are not a chemical fertiliser manufacturer as such,’’ Mr McMaster said.

‘‘Instead we blend different chemical and bio-stimulant elements to make formulations or products that are designed to meet specific soil and crop performance needs.

‘‘We can process greater volumes, more quickly, while still maintaining the capability to deliver highly customised, accurate, quality assured products to growers.”
